Just starting this book by Tom Robbins, recommended to me by my dear Mona. Anything that starts with "The beet is the most intense of vegetables." has got to be a fun read...
Anyone else read this yet? Thoughts? (but don't give away the ending...)

Re: Jitterbug Perfume
Wed, June 8, 2005 - 6:38 PMPeople either love or hate Tom Robbins. I can't get enough. I wish he wrote more.
I think you'll enjoy it, Joel.
Anyone else? He needs more than my word on it. Heh. -

Thu, June 9, 2005 - 8:23 AMThe title sounds very intriguing.
I just finished Blow Fly by Patricia Cornwell. This was a different style than her other Scarpetta novels. I liked it better. -

Thu, June 9, 2005 - 12:06 PMYeah, little different style, but it and her last few Scarpetta books have left me wanting to read someone else. Seems like Cornwell is getting tired of her too.
And, no, Mona, I don't need more than your word on a book to at least try it, and I love this one so far, short distance that my eyes have ran over it...

Thu, June 9, 2005 - 12:29 PMMaybe I should try Blow Fly - I'm so tired of the std Scarpetta stuff. -

Fri, June 10, 2005 - 7:17 PMIf y'all want to read someone along the lines of Corwell, try Tami Hogg. To me, she is a great writer. I love all the craziness that goes on in her books.
Right now I am reading Protect and Defend by Richard North Patterson. This guy had to do some serious research to write it.
This story has to do with late term abortion. After I realized what it was about, I wanted to ditch it but it keeps me coming back to see just what is going to happen. Plus, a story about a woman who is seeking the highest judgeship in the nation.
A real page turner....what will the judge do? Will the girl get the courts to grant her the right to abort a child with major problems??
I know y'all wish that I would report on a new book but I have to wait until they are given away to get them. Flea markets and thrift stores are my stomping ground for books. Where do y'all buy yours? -

Re: Jitterbug Perfume
Sat, June 11, 2005 - 9:46 AMHow did this thread get onto Cornwell?
If you all like Tom Robbins, I highly recommend Christopher Moore. He writes *very* funny novels, though his writing isn't nearly as fine as Robbins.
I don't like Cornwell. Sorry.
